Real case · Sneaker cleaning shop in Tlalpan, Mexico City

From paper to digital records

A shop that cleans sneakers, caps, and bags logged every item on a paper ticket with a preprinted number. The last one was 3407. The next one was born digital.

The video uses demo data. The business remains anonymous.

Before

There were no photos of how each item arrived and no tracking for the customer, and damage was written down by hand whenever someone got around to it. Resolving customer claims depended on the counter staff's memory.

Understanding the counter

Before writing any code, we followed each item from start to finish. At every step we noted who decides, what gets charged, and how the customer finds out.

Three pieces, one system

A central system calculates prices, assigns ticket numbers, tracks the status of each item, and keeps everyone updated in real time. Two applications run on top of it: one for the customer and one for the team.

Production board with columns for received, washing, drying, quality control, and ready
Phone screen where the customer marks two areas of damage on a photo of a red sneaker
Tracking screen showing the service ticket, the ready-for-pickup status, and the before-and-after comparison
  • Customer check-in

From their phone, using the QR code at the counter: guided photos, damage marks, and a signature, with nothing to download.

  • Team dashboard

The front desk checks the item and sets the price, the lab moves each status forward, and administration sees reports and the daily cash closeout.

  • Live tracking

The customer follows progress and the before-and-after photos through a link, and responds if damage turns up during cleaning.

Built to last

The system has end-to-end tests and continues to be maintained after going into production.
